Patricia Diehl, 67, Upper Marlboro Music Director

Patricia Diehl, a music director, wife, mother and grandmother, of Upper Marlboro, has died at age 67.

After several months battling lung cancer, Upper Marlboro resident Patricia “Pat” Diehl passed away on July 14 in Lanham at age 67, according to the Capital Gazette. 

Diehl, who was born in Maysville, KY, and attended George Washington University, was the choir director at Hope Presbyterian Church in Mitchelville for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Southern Maryland Community Gospel Choir and enjoyed gospel, singing, playing piano and flute, teaching and mentoring, the Capital report said. 

Diehl is survived by her husband, Jim Diehl; two sons, Capt. Bill Diehl of Arlington, and John Diehl of Salt Lake City; and four grandchildren, Joseph Diehl, of Asheville, NC, and Jackson, Henry and Rainey Diehl of Salt Lake City.

The memorial service will be at Hope Presbyterian Church on Enterprise Road in Mitchellville at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 20.

Donations may be made in her name to Hope Presbyterian Church or online to the American Cancer Society.
