Marlborough Day Planners Gear Up For 36th Year

The 36th annual Upper Marlboro festival will be held on May 12.

With in its 36th years, coordinators are looking forward to another year entertaining crowds the day before Mother's Day.

Joe Hourcle, secretary and town liaison for the annual festival in Upper Marlboro, said this year there will be two dance stages, two live music stages and one stage known as the "kiddie corner." Justin Trawick will be back again, along with a number of other artists that will perform throughout the day.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary, the Girl Scouts will act as the grand marshal for the parade this year.

But being that the event is on the eve of Mother's Day, families will have the opportunity to spend the day with mom doing a number of kid-friendly activities— from magicians, clowns and face painting, to martial arts exhibits and the county's mobile skate park. And, weather permitting, pony rides and moonbounces will also be on hand to entertain the little ones.

A number of vendors will also be on hand for those trying to decide what to get mom last minute from arts and crafts to merchandise.

Food will be on sale at the event which will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Main Street & Water Street with free parking and shuttle at Showplace Arena.
