What's Open, Closed in Prince George's County on Thanksgiving

All city-run facilities and offices will be closed Thursday, but some have limited hours Friday. And some grocery stores are open for limited hours on Thanksgiving.

Schools and government offices are closed for the holiday, but if you need to dash out for milk or cranberry sauce you have options.

Prince George's County Public Schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday in observance of the holiday. Prince George's County public libraries will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed on Thursday. Libraries will be open regular hours on Friday.

All Prince George's County government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. There will be no trash or recycling collection on Thursday, but curbside collection will resume on Friday. There will be no bulky trash pickup on Thursday or Friday. County recycling and trash drop-off locations will be closed Thursday but open regular hours on Friday. 

Metro buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thursday and Friday. 

If you need to grab some last minute ingredients for your Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, most local grocery stores will be open limited hours. Giant grocery stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Safeway will be open from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wegman's will be open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Whole Foods will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Trader Joe's will be closed.
