Pr. George's Makes it Easier to Build Near Metro

New bill aims to bring transit-oriented development, federal jobs to county.

The Prince George's County Council has passed a bill which would make it easier to develop land around Metro stations in the county.

Prince George's County already has more metro stations, 15, than any other jurisdiction asides from Washington, DC. But many of those Metro stations, like the one at West Hyattsville, are surrounded by parking lots and undeveloped or vacant properties.

The bill is designed to encourage mixed-use, transit oriented development near Metro stations, and gives special treatment to developers who are seeking federal tenants for their projects, according to The Washington Post.
