Spooky Science

The Maryland Science Center gets creepy, kooky and spooky this Halloween season with its 5th Spooky Science. Visitors can experience all the eerie excitement on Saturday, October 26 from noon to 4 p.m. including creepy chemistry, devious demonstrations, hair-raising activities and a host of spooky reptiles.

Visitors will shriek and scream (with joy!) as Reptiles Alive brings their exciting, educational and creepy live animal shows to the Maryland Science Center. The eerie animals will include slithering snakes, terrifying toads and bearded dragons. Towson University chemistry professors Kelly Elkins and Katharine Bowdy will let the creepy chemistry continue, creating fake blood from iron 3+ and potassium thiocyanate and a witch’s brew from dry ice in
a cauldron. Guests will be able to join by making their own fake blood and gooey, glowing slime. At 12:20 and 2:20 p.m. the Maryland Science Center’s own mad scientists will take over the Demonstration Stage for “Before Frankenstein’s Monster,” an experiment-filled presentation on the history of one of the most infamous doctors of all time: Dr. Frankenstein.

All guests, both ghostly and ghoulish, are encouraged to wear their most terrifying attire to make it a truly fang-tastic day!Spooky Science activities are free with paid admission to the Maryland Science Center.

The Maryland Science Center is located at 601 Light Street at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. For information and ticket prices, visit www.marylandsciencecenter.org or call the 24-Hour Information Line at 410-685-5225.
