Upper Marlboro Officials Concerned about Flooding in Sandy's Wake

The town of Upper Marlboro is keeping an eye on their streams as the water level continues to rise after Hurricane Sandy's wrath Monday night.

According to town officials, who closed their offices aroung 2 p.m. Monday to brace for the storm, power did not go out for most of the town. Pepco is only reporting around 200 outages in the greater Upper Marlboro area as of 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Several roads are closed throughout Upper Marlboro as flooding remains one of the town's biggest concerns.

As of 10:20 a.m., Route 725 east of Route 202 is closed due to high water, officials reported on the town's website. They said the bridge on Route 725 will close if water continues to rise. Water Street and Race Track Road also remain closed, officials said. Other roads remain closed around the county as well.

Officials said most of the town’s roads are clear, but slick with wet leaves. Town hall is open, but with limited staffing. It will reopen fully Wednesday.
