Surrattsville High School Student Collapses, Dies

Seventeen-year-old Tekau Rasayon was reportedly jogging on the track at the school during a physical education class when she collapsed.

A senior at Surrattsville High School in Clinton died unexpectedly on Wednesday after jogging during a physical education class, according to Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS).

Tekau Rasayon, 17, reportedly collapsed on the track. She was transported with her mother by ambulance to Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, where she was later pronounced dead.

Briant Coleman, a PGCPS spokesman, issued the the following statement:

On behalf of the Prince George’s County Public Schools community, I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to her family, teachers, classmates and friends. Counselors will be available at Surrattsville this week to offer support services.
