Storms Leave Few Outages in Pr. George's

After region battered by heavy rains, electricity stays on for most in Prince George's County.

Despite heavy rains and severe thunderstorms which swept through the region on Monday evening, relatively few Prince George's residents were left without power. 

The storms caused the National Weather Service to elevate flood and tornado watches to flood and tornado warnings as the evening progressed. 

By 10:45 p.m., PEPCO was reporting only 23 customers were affected by outages in Prince George's County, with scattered power disruptions reported in the areas of Mount Rainier, Fairmount Heights, Greater Upper Marlboro and Broad Creek.

Similarly, Baltimore Gas and Electric was reporting only five customers in Prince George's County without power by 10:50 p.m., though their statistics also noted that power was restored for 1,125 customers throughout the evening. 

The Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, which serves a large swath of southern Prince George's County, was reporting no outages in Prince George's as of 10:50 p.m.
