Community Meeting on Killing of Ft. Washington Student

Marcus Antonio Jones, 16, was an apparent gunshot victim of an unknown assailant, police said.

Police have announced a meeting with the Fort Washington community on Wednesday to discuss the killing of 16-year-old Marcus Antonio Jones, according to Prince George's police.

Officers found Jones suffering from an apparent gunshot wound on Sunday in the 7700 block of Webster Lane in Fort Washington, according to a police news release.

Jones was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police said Jones was walking to a car after leaving a home on Webster Lane when an an unknown assailant shot him and ran. Detectives are following up on substantial leads to identify a suspect and determine a motive, police said. 

Jones, of the 800 block of Swan Creek Road, was a student at Friendly High School in Fort Washington.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday at Friendly High School on 10000 Allentown Road.
