Community Discusses New Regional Medical Center

More than 350 people attended the standing room only meeting at the Prince George's County Sports and Learning Complex.

Stakeholders, community members, and government officials came together Thursday to discuss site locations for the proposed new Regional Medical Center (RMC).

“The Baker Administration has been steadfast in our efforts to prioritize and propel the county and region’s health care system” said Bradford L. Seamon, chief administrative officer for Prince George’s County, in a statement.

Representatives from Dimensions Healthcare System, the University of Maryland Medical System (UUMS), and state and county officials attended the meeting Thursday evening at the Prince George’s County Sports and Learning Complex, along with more than 300 community members.

Four proposed sites for the new facility were discussed—Landover Mall, Largo Town Center, Morgan Boulevard, and Woodmore.

"Hearing from the community we serve is an important part of the location review process regarding the new regional medical center planned in Prince George's County," said Neil J. Moore, president and CEO of Dimensions Healthcare System, in a statement.  "We share our partners' commitment to enhance health care in the region and appreciate the community's interest and participation."

A new hospital facility is one part of a multi-party commitment among county officials, state officials, and regional health care providers to increase the stability of health care services in Prince George’s County.

“We continue to work diligently with all the parties to outline the steps needed to build a new regional medical center.  The site selection is one of those key steps," stated John W. Ashworth III, senior vice president for network development with UMMS.
