As expected, the House of Delegates voted to approve motor fuel taxes, and the Senate will now take up the measure before the General Assembly adjourns on April 8.  A proposal as unpopular as this one must be hidden from public view and carefully timed to avoid news cycles.

Catholics throughout the Archdiocese of Washington will observe the death and resurrection of Christ during Holy Week and Easter and more than 1,200 adults, teens and children will be baptized or confirmed Catholic at the Easter Vigil. This is an exciting time in the life of the Church, in this “Year of Faith" and in the first days of the pontificate of Pope Francis. Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, will lead a number of liturgies.

Recently, someone commented on my posting entitled Gratia Benedictus XVI. This writer, who stated she (and I only assume it was a she but it could have been a he) was a Catholic School teacher. She was very upset that the priest at her parish spoke about the petition against gay marriage. She stated: "He went on endlessly spewing hatred and discussing a topic I had not yet discussed myself with my daughter

Layla is so sweet. Her owners gave her up because they discovered they were allergic to her so they brought her to the Prince George’s Animal Services Facility on Brown Station Road in Upper Marlboro. She is so sweet and needs a new loving, forever home.
