Potomac Gourmet Market Remains Open In National Harbor

Local grocery store remains open to serve National Harbor residents.

Mandatory water restrictions have closed down all the hotels and restaurants in the National Harbor, but one place remains open, serving as an oasis for residents.

Potomac Gourmet Market, a local grocery store catering to National Harbor residents will remain open throughout the restrictions.

"We're here because there is a population that lives here and we wanted to be here for the community," said store manager Lenny Knight.

The restaurants had to close per health department regulations due to lack of running water. Knight said Potomac Gourmet Market was not held to those same standards because most of there food is prepackaged.

"We don't have a constant prep cycle," he said.

The store carries a variety of prepackaged foods, fresh fruits and cheeses, bottled water and beer and wine.

Knight said the store has a tradition of staying open during in-climate weather and other emergency situations, and the water restriction is no different.
