Rooms Available at Area Hotels for Displaced Residents, National Harbor Guests

Many local hotels have rooms available for Prince George's County residents who will be affected by the water shortage in coming days.

The water restrictions will shut down a 3,000-room hotel at the National Harbor Wednesday and hotel guests are already being asked to find new accommodations. 

Staff at hotels in College Park say they have not started receiving any National Harbor guests, but the Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn & Suits and the Hampton Inn all have open rooms.

"As of right now, we have not had anyone transferring over, and I have about 25 rooms available," said Alesha Hoover, help desk agent at Hampton Inn in College Park.  

Staff at the Hampton Inn in Bowie report the hotel has not received guests from National Harbor hotels that they know of, and there are rooms available for guests.

There have also been no reservations at the Marriott Towne Place Suites in Bowie directly as a result of the water restrictions at National Harbor, according to guest services, though there are several rooms open for reservations.

The Holiday Inn Express in Largo has seen a few new reservations today, but could not say if they were due to the closure of National Harbor hotels. They also still have a few rooms available as well. 

One hotel chain though is offering to help displaced residents by offering a H2O discount starting Wednesday.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants in Alexandria, VA and DC will offer 20 percent off room rates and 50 percent off parking and bottled water at check-in at Kimpton's in Old Town Alexandria, Jaclyn Randolph, a spokeswoman with the hotel chain said. Rates start at $99 per night. 

The restaurant also will offer a 15 percent discount to residents who show a valid Prince George's County ID, Randolph added. Pets are welcome to stay at Kimpton hotels with no additional fees.
