Beltway Reopens After 15-Car Wreck

Emergency workers are on the scene.

Update - 10:17 a.m. - The Maryland State Highway Administration reports that all lanes of the Beltway are now open again.

A major car accident has closed the inner loop of the Beltway near Ritchie-Marlboro Road (Exit 13), according to Prince George's County Fire Department Spokesperson Mark Brady. 

Cars involved in the accident span all lanes of the beltway, hence the closing of the inner loop.

The driver of a box truck was initially trapped inside of his vehicle, but he has now been freed and is being is being treated by paramedics on the scene, said Brady. An additional EMS unit has also been deployed to the scene. 

Brady reports that at least three adult men and one adult woman have been transferred to the hospital. Three have non-life threatening trauma injuries and one has less serious injuries, he said.
