'Fat Pig' Performance at Prince George's Community College

Prince George's Community College's Communication and Theatre Department will present "Fat Pig." It's a stage play that addresses society's traditional view of beauty.

Performances are set for Nov. 10 at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 11-13 and Nov. 17-20 at 7:30 p.m. at Queen Anne Fine Arts, Hallam Theatre.

The play, authored by Neil LaBute, follows a young, handsome man who has to explain his new relationship with a plus-sized woman to his shallow friends.

"This isn't a story of a fat girl. It is the story of how we allow outside relationships to interfere with our intimate relationships," said Tammy O’Donnell, chairperson and associate professor, Communication and Theatre Department. "The media certainly plays a part in our perception of beauty, but sometimes our closest friends and family can do the most damage."
