Carolyn Malachi Dreams Big (She Wants You to Do the Same)

Carolyn Malachi has lived a glamorous life in a very short period of time. Her debut album, Revenge of the Smart Chicks II: Ambitious Gods, was released just two years ago.

Last year, her breakthrough song, "Orion," was nominated for a Grammy in the now-eliminated Best Urban/Alternative Performance category. Her exceptional Lions, Fires and Squares EP received a glowing review from yours truly (sorry for the shameless plug).

On Friday, Malachi released the video for "Beautiful Dreamer," the uplifting new single from her forthcoming album, scheduled for a spring release. Malachi will release her iPhone app, then the song will be available on iTunes on Oct. 7.

Malachi is scheduled to perform at 3 p.m., Sept. 24 at the Bluebird Blues Festival in Upper Marlboro. Her performance will take place in the Queen Anne Theatre on the campus of Prince George's Community College.
