Upper Marlboro to Host Young Orators Public Speaking Showcase on April 27

Event to feature speakers from 2nd grade through college.

 

On April 27, the Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church (CPBBC)/Excellence Christian School will host the SPEAK! 2013 Oratory Competition featuring speakers as young as 7 and as old as college age.

Featuring four different competitive categories--Elementary School (Grades 2-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), High School (Grades 9-12) and College--SPEAK! 2013 will put the spotlight on some of the greatest young public speakers in the region, and award monetary prizes for the top three in each category.

Sponsored by The Links Inc. of Prince George’s County, Vanessa Scott and Just BE Management & Consultation Services, the competition has themes of civil rights, demonstrations, democracy and heroes. SPEAK! MD Oratory League is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization.

Interested parties need to register in advance on the SPEAK! 2013 website.

On April 20, SPEAK! will host a workshop/rehearsal for registered competitors at the CPBBC/Excellence Christian School, located at 9010 Old Frank Tippett Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.

The actual competition is one week later, on April 27, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the same location. SPEAK! 2013 strongly encourages advance ticket purchases via their website.
