The List: Community Resources

-- The organization provides support and guidance services to those with intellectual or developmental disabilities throughout the greater-Washington, D.C. area. Services include enrichement programs, employment counseling, housing arrangements, job training and recreational programs.

-- A nonprofit organization that offers assistance, programs and advocacy for developmentally disabled persons and their families. There are four branches in Prince George's County with two in Upper Marlboro/Largo.

There are a number of acitivites that take place at the McCormick Dr facility: social club, residential support group, Very Important Parents, Out on Town, art, theater, choir, paid vocational day programs and physical fitness. 

-- Brydges, which stands for Building Responsible Youths by Delivering Genuine Enrichment Services, is a religious organization with the mission to build bridges between church ministries and the community. Each year, the organization puts on several activities, such as Camp Higherground and Bible Jeopardy, directed to youth ministries.

-- Mount Ephraim Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro is under the ministry of Pastor James Gilmore. On its website, the church has a special verse for the week on which to meditate.

-- Mitchellville Seventh-Day Adventist Church is located in Upper Marlboro. "Preaching, teaching and healing" are the foundations of Adventist practice. It observes sabbath on Saturdays.
