Cooling Centers Open in Prince George's County

The air quality is ranked as "Code Orange" on Tuesday, meaning those with sensitive lungs should spend time indoors.

A handful of "cooling centers" around Prince George's County will be open to seniors and the general public starting on Tuesday. The centers will likely remain open for the rest of the week.

The cooling centers are open on days where the temperature is expected to exceed 90 degrees, or when the air quality level hits "Code Orange." According the Air Quality Index, Code Orange indicates that the air you're breathing today is "unhealthy for sensitive groups," namely, those with lung disease, children and the elderly.
