In 2013, SCEDA’s focus has been in the areas of business development, education, public safety, transportation and community support.  The organization supports academic excellence in the schools, full summer youth employment, safe streets, adequate transportation facilities (including metro rail service across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge), transit oriented commercial development, and high end restaurants and shopping centers such as the Tanger Outlets.  SCEDA has adopted three schools, supported the community work of The Charity Carrousel to feed hungry families in our community and supported efforts to attract more international trade and commerce to Prince George’s County.   The organization lobbied government at all levels to adopt policies and procedures that support smart economic growth.  SCEDA advocated a fair, open, process for the selection of a casino service provider, and our position statement regarding the corporate social responsibility of casino companies may be viewed at www.SCEDAInc.org.  President Wills said, “We invite you to come to the Gala and support our efforts.  We believe that community pride is the genesis of economic growth and prosperity, thus we work to build the type of wholesome community in which the entrepreneurial spirit will flourish and soar.”
