Uncomfortable Conversations is a series of four short plays focusing on different interactions among young people affected by dating violence. These include: conversations with the victim (male or female), conversations with friends, conversation with parents, and an inner monologue — a peek into the mind of the abuser. A panel discussion will follow each performance.

The event will also feature live music and dance performances to keep the atmosphere positive and uplifting. Welcome remarks will be delivered by Maryland Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown.

The innovative workshop designed for middle school and high school aged youth is being held at Community of Hope A.M.E. Church, located in the lower level of Iverson Mall.

The premiere event is ideal for schools, churches or any youth-serving organizations. Group registration is highly encouraged.

Uncomfortable Conversations is presented by United Way of the National Capital Area and Dreams Work, Inc. and is the newest installment in their Way to P.E.A.C.E. youth violence prevention program.
