What Stores Will Be Open On Christmas Day?
Movie theater, local restaurants will remain open as scheduled.
It's Christmas Day and even though you love spending time with your family, you really want to get out of the house. But what stores are open on this most sacred of holidays? The choices are slim for picky shoppers, but there are a few retailers and restaurateurs open.
You can expect to find major chain stores closed for the holidays, while smaller neighborhood stores will be open. JP's Dollar Plus sells a little bit of everything you might need at a reduced price. It will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. At JP's Dollar Plus, being open on the holidays is about providing a convenience to the neighbors. Expressions a boutique, specializing in jewelry, clothing, and accessories, will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Specials will be announced on Dec. 20.
There are options for Christmas Day, whether you want to rent "It's a Wonderful Life" or catch "Little Flockers." Blockbuster will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Magic Johnson theater will be open as normally scheduled.
Several restaurants around the area will also be open on Christmas Day offering residents alternatives to traditional Christmas dinners during regular business hours: Eddy's Carryout, Kobe Japanese Steak House, Foolee's Carry Out, Jerry Yum, China Taste Restaurant, and Kitchen No. 1. For restaurants like Eddy's Carryout, they close for only one day all year: the Chinese New Year.
Home Boy Seafood in Largo Plaza serves seafood, sandwiches, and wings. Working on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. makes sense to Manager Usman Dar, after-all, "who don't want good food on Christmas?"
The Zone Restaurant and Bar, Upper Marlboro's hopping night spot, will be open Christmas Day from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Christmas specials will be announced on Dec. 22.
