Valuable Blessings Inc., a Prince George's County based organization, is looking for a variety of volunteers for their third annual Community Thanksgiving. The organization has partnered with Bradbury Heights Elementary School in Capitol Heights and they expect to feed 400 to 600 people on Thanksgiving. Hosts, greeters, food servers and table servers are all needed in addition to monetary and food donations.
The DC-based nonprofit We Are Family coordinated the donation of Thanksgiving turkeys and all the fixings to 400 of the cities hungriest senior citizens. They are looking for volunteers to help make deliveries.
Want to work off those Thanksgiving calories before you sit down to dinner? Sign up for the So Others Might Eat (SOME) 13th Annual Trot for Hunger. Proceeds will go to SOME and allow them to continue providing hot meals to those in need. Runners/Walkers can sign up for a 1K fun run or the regular 5K, both run on Thanksgiving morning, well before the food coma sets in.
