Occupy Movement: One Year Later [Video]

Will 'We are the 99%' echo down through the ages, or has the movement's day come and gone?

Monday marks the one-year anniversary of the first demonstration held by the Occupy Movement, a loosely organized coalition of protestors opposing socioeconomic inequality and what they view as the outsized influence of corporations.

On Sept. 17, 2011, Occupy supporters first gathered in lower Manhattan's Zuccotti Park, tipping off a monthlong series of sit-ins, rallies, and marches across the country and around the world.

In November, one group of Occupy protestors briefly passed through College Park and University Park, en route from New York to downtown Washington, D.C.

While the movement has largely disappeared from the headlines over the past year, the question remains: did it have any lasting impact on our politics? If so, do you think the effect was a positive one? And do you see a future for the movement, or has its time come and gone?

Though I can't say if the movement has made significant impact at the national political level- Occupy our Homes in Baltimore is still alive and quite strong. This program has a significant impact at the local and non-political level, literally stopping the banks in their tracks with the result of banks forgiving loans and allowing homeowners to stay put. just because the mainstream media stops covering something doesn't mean it goes away. and that's why I read the patch!
