More than 100 residents showed up Monday evening at the Kettering Community Center to learn more about the killing of a vivacious teen— a case police say has left them without many leads.

According to The Washington Post, Prince George’s Deputy Police Chief Craig Howard said police don't believe the shooting was random, but they still don't have a suspect or a motive for the killing. Howard also wanted to assure residents that their neighbor was safe, the Post reporting that there were "only three violent crimes so far this year."

Prince George's County Police are hoping that by reaching out to the public, they may received more information that could lead to an arrest, WUSA9 reported.

Amber Deanna Stanley was found in her home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds around 10:23 p.m. on Aug. 22, after an unknown assailant kicked down the door to her home on the 100 block of Chartsey Street and shot her in her bedroom. Although others were home at the time, they escaped harmed, police said.

Stanley, 17, was a senior at Charles H. Flowers High and had dreams of attending Harvard University and pursuing a career in medicine, her principal Gorman Brown told reporters last month.

The teen's mother, Irma Gaither, attended the meeting Monday night and told reporters she had no idea who killed her daughter.

"I miss her, that's my baby. I'm just waiting to wake up, I'm hoping this is a horrible dream. I'm just walking around waiting to wake up," Gaither said to WUSA9.

Police have spent time canvassing the neighboring, even bring in their academy class to look for clues. The Gazette reports that police have even spent time with students at Flowers High and although multiple tips come into the department daily, they are still looking for more information. Police also have copies of footage from nearby shopping centers, The Gazette reports.

County police asking residents to call the Prince George's Crime Solvers with tips about Stanley's death at 1-866-411-TIPS. They are also offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible.
