Get Out: Memorial Day Weekend Fun

A few events going on this Memorial Day weekend that are worth checking out.

 

If patriotic music is your thing, The Bowie Senior Choral Concert presents “This is My Country” on Friday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts. The concert will feature patriotic folk songs and other songs that highlight America. Tickets are $6.

Grab your swim suits! The Pointer Ridge Swim and Racquet Club is hosting an open house and free swim day on Saturday, May 26 from noon to 8 p.m.

Forward, march! Bowie’s annual Memorial Day Parade will take place on Saturday, May 28. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the Bowie High School Annex and will go toward Annapolis Road turning right onto Sussex Lane, and make another right onto Stonybrook Drive, ending with a left turn on Sage Lane.

The businesses of Old Town Bowie are hosting the inaugural Bowie Arts Festival on Sunday, May 27 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature street and stage performances and artists of all kinds selling their wares. 

The town of Upper Marlboro will host their annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at the Town Hall on 14211 School Lane. Colors will be presented by the Frederick Douglass High School ROTC and three guest speakers. The event will be followed by light refreshments.
