Nancy Tufts died Sunday in her Tantallon home. She was 102 years old.

A Fort Washington woman died in her home Sunday at the age of 102, according to Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring.

Nancy Tufts lived in the Tantallon neighborhood. Tufts had befriended Prince George's County police officers last summer when the District 4 officers were investigating burglaries in the area, according to a Prince George's Police Department release.

County police officers returned to help Tufts restore her garden and her historic home, The Washington Post reported last year.

A funeral for Tufts will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Johns Episcopal Church-Broad Creek in Ft. Washington, the funeral home stated.

The family asked District 4 officers will serve as pallbearers, police said.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
