Arrest Made in 2001 Upper Marlboro Homicide

Billy Joe Simon is being held without bond.

County police officers have arrested Billy Joe Simon in connection with the murder of Michael Neal in Upper Marlboro almost 10 years ago.

A warrant was obtained May 3 for Simon's arrest. Two days later, officers went to the 2600 block of Marbury Drive in District Heights and Simon, 41, was taken into custody without incident. He is being held without bond.

Shortly after 5 a.m. on June 10, 2001, officers responded to a shooting call in the 12700 block of New Town Way in Upper Marlboro. Upon their arrival, officers found Neal, 27, suffering from trauma to the body and was pronounced dead on the scene.
